MILE

MILE was established in 2020 with an aim of bridging the digital literacy gap amongst young men and women across Malawian communities through skills development, job placements and provision of access to digital technology tools and resources. MILE provides community members including children (8-17 years), youth (18-35 years), and the elderly, access to digital skills training including computer programming, digital marketing, photography and videography, graphic design, and end-user computing, awareness and sensitization on existing digital technologies and networking events connecting ecosystem players with the community at large fostering community engagement and collaboration.

MILE has to date supported 1,170  youth with digital skills and 3,303 children, young men and women across all districts in Northern Malawi reached with mass ICT literacy awareness and sensitization. Mzuzu E-Hub has recently scaled the MILE program by establishing remote tech hubs in the Lilongwe district through Computers for Enhanced Education (CEE) and the Rumphi district through Life Concern Organisation (LICO). Mzuzu E-Hub has also partnered with Mayoka Hub in Nkhatabay District to implement the Youth Leadership Program under the Going Beyond Project in collaboration with Digital Opportunity Trust and the MasterCard Foundation.
